cute card thursday, Crafty Purple Frog, Stampin' for the Weekend; Sweet Stampin; Totally Gorjuss

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday challenge #209 is an anything goes.
Crafty Purple Frog challenge #37 also is an anything goes.
Stampin' for the weekend challenge #6 also is an anything goes.
Sweet Stampin' also is an anything goes.
Totally Gorjuss challenge #124 had us using spots and stripes.

Here's the card:

I can't believe how crummy my coloring gets after not practicing it for a while. Maybe it's the pills. I'm due for physical therapy sessions because the pain hasn't gotten better with just pills. So I'm still pretty doped, and you can probably tell. You don't know how many times I moved around the stuff on this card before I was somewhat satisfied with the results. I even had started another card before this one which just did not work at all, so I left it on my little basket of works in progress and hopefully someday I'll see it with fresh eyes and manage to work it out.

supplies used:
stamps: The Greeting Farm- Oh Boy! Ian; Papertrey Ink- Mega Mixed Messages
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: E000, YR12, G94, Y11, Y13, Y15, R27, B34, B37, B39
card stock: Neenah solar white 80#; Stampin' Up!- Kiwi Kiss

DCC314

Hi all!

This is my card for The House That Stamps Built's DCC314 which was to make a sympathy card.

Here's the card:

I will need to get back to you on the supplies. In a short summary, they were:
stamps: Stampin' Up!- On Angel Wings; Fiskars stamps: Papertrey Ink-Mega Mixed Messages
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
card stock: Georgia Pacific white and a scrap of black I had lying around

I know I haven't been posting much, here's the story:
The other two of my dogs started getting territorial about food. I thought just separating the food bowls would work, but my Corgi is too big a bully and she picked a fight with my huge Retriever, Bella. There was blood drawn and the Retriever actually clamped down on the Corgi's head and wouldn't let go. However, she didn't leave puncture marks on the Corgi, just a gash from a fang scratch. No, the one with puncture bites was me on my hands. I also got a few gashes and bruises in the process. The worst is over- the bloody parts have healed and closed. What worried me the most was when the bites on my hands turned into huge blisters and were seeping liquid. I thought I'd lose a finger from infection. Thank God no such thing happened. However, from the tension I suffered a back spasm on a very vulnerable area between my neck and shoulder, which had gotten really hurt in a car accident a few years back (I had a huge lump on there for several months after the accident and looked like I was growing another head!) and I've been on pain medication and anti-imflammatory drugs for a few days now. I wish I could create more but I'm VERY drugged and groggy and sleeping most of the day (and night!). So I'll be on a short break for a while. I'll be posting, just not every single day like I was. Hopefully this will be temporary. I miss creating and having something to do all day, lol. But nothing seems to come out right when I'm drugged. I mess up stamping, cutting, everything! So bear with me, sweet followers, and thanks in advance for your patience.

Thanks for looking!

ps- the dog issue's been resolved by feeding them one at a time in the morning and one at a time during late afternoon. I'll feed them one by one twice a day and that way there's no single source of food left around for them to want to fight over. Before, there were 3 feeding stations inside (each one belonged to a different dog) and I served each one their portion during early morning and took it away by 9:30 pm if anything was left. I haven't had problems with this set-up before but I guess they've been hormonal or something. In fact, the Corgi just got her rabies shots so maybe she was feeling cranky and icky.

Paper and Such; Penny's Paper-Crafty; Top Tip Tuesday; Papertake Weekly; Crafty Creations

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Paper and Such Design provided the sketch for my card.

Penny's Paper-Crafty challenge #75 gave us a recipe. We were to use three buttons, two patterned papers and one ribbon. I used the three buttons on the top right corner of my image panel, and matted the image with a peachy patterned paper from Provo Craft and the strip of striped paper behind the image is Basic Grey with a lime green ribbon.

Top Tip Tuesday challenge #72 was to make a girly creation.

Papertake Weekly also challenged us to make something girly.

pile it on; Simon Says Stamp; Wags 'n Whiskers

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

pile it on challenge #11 had a St. Patricks or shades of green challenge.

Simon Says Stamp also challenged us to use green on our creations.

Wags 'n Whiskers was the third to challenge us to use green on our creations for their #75 challenge.

Ok, so here's the deal. This was my first attempt, which I was so happy with until I messed it up. The problem? I used a machine to stitch, but do you know what happened? I forgot to flip down that thing that holds down the paper on the first two sides I stitched. Sigh.

So I went ahead and salvaged what I could and came up with the second version:

supplies used:
stamps: Sweet Pea Stamps- Forever Valentine
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: 0, G20, G40, E00, E30, E50, YG03, YG05, YG07, YG09, R21, Y11, Y21

Flourishes FLLCMARRW2

Hi all! This is my entry for Flourishes FLLCMARRW2. For this challenge, we were to use the same image as both a focal and background image. I used the crocus from Flourishes A Year in Flowers 1.

Here's my card:

I decided to keep the card clean and simple because to be honest this is not my first try at this challenge and the first few attempts came out horrible. I stamped the image with Versamark on the base of the card and with Memento Tuxedo Black for the main image on the nestabilities labels 1 cut-out and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. Added a white lace trim and glued a second, smaller cream lace trim on top.
I colored the embossed edge of the nestabilities cut-out with the white prismacolor pencil. Finished off by stamping the sentiment with the black ink and adding a few adhesive rhinestones underneath.

supplies used:
stamps: Flourishes A Year in Flowers 1; Urban Design communique curves sentiments
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
prismacolor pencils: PC938, PC1026, PC956, PC932, PC911
card stock: Papertrey Ink- kraft
accessories: adhesive rhinestones; nestabilities labels 1; white lace trim; cream lace trim

FLourishes FLLCMARRW1

Hi all!

I am entering my card into Flourishes noon time challenge FLLCMARRW1 which was to make a round card. I made my card using Flourishes Orchids set. When I need a beautiful floral image to color in, that's always the set I reach out for. Orchids come in so many colors, so you can find a photo of one for any color scheme you'd like and then just match the colors to your coloring medium and go to town. I wanted to use purples so I googled "cattleya orchid" and picked a pic to base my coloring on. And the stamps on this set are big enough to use as a focal image.

Here's my card:

supplies used:
stamps: Orchids by Flourishes; Papertrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: T0, G07, YG67, V0000, R85, Y15, BV000, BV01, BV02
card stock: Papertrey Ink lavender moon; Neenah solar white #80

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Bling it On had a birthday challenge but we also had to use shades of lilac.

Sweet Stampin' Challenge wanted us to use lots of layers. They also gave us an optional sketch to play with. I followed the sketch pretty closely and I think there's 9 layers not counting the card base.

allsorts challenge #145 was to use flowers. I added 5 prima flowers to my card.

The Stamping Boutique challenge #28 is to use pearls and swirls. I used My Favorite Things fancy flourish die and also used half-back adhesive pearls.

Totally Gorjuss challenge #122 is an anything goes with a button. I used three buttons on my card as flower centers.

Do You Stack Up challenge #62 is "go green". We could interpret that how we chose, including recycling or just using the color green. One of the panels I used on my card is a piece of a printed paper bag I got in the UK when I bought a few pieces of jewelry from a booth at a mall in Cambridge. Please scroll down for the pic of the remnants of the bag.

PaperPlay also had a recycle it challenge. One of the panels I used on my card is a piece of a printed paper bag I got in the UK when I bought a few pieces of jewelry from a booth at a mall in Cambridge. Please scroll down for the pic of the remnants of the bag.

Now for pics:

A pic of what's left of the recycled printed paper bag. I used the piece of bag on the layer to the left and beneath the front lilac card stock layer. Sponged the white doily with a Colorbox ink and then used the distress ink on the edges. Some of the flowers are also sponged with the lilac ink.

Friday, March 9, 2012

Hi all! I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Dutch Dare Card challenge #155 was a recipe. I found it pretty tough. Here's the recipe and how I complied with it:
1 stamped or digi image- I used a free rose digital image
1 sentiment- sentiment by Verve
2 ribbon- I used two sheer ribbons and sponged one of them with ink
3 pattern papers- the heart is from a sheet of patterned paper, the music sheet background is a digital paper and the rose-colored floral patterned is my third paper
4 embellishments (can be 4 of the same or 4 different ones) I used 4 pink adhesive pearls

Prairie Fairy Fridays challenge #74 was to do distressing. I distressed the fairy image tag with Antique Linen ink and also used a paper distressing tool to tear the edge of the music sheet paper.

Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge #58 was to use fairies.

Charisma Cardz challenge #9 was to use ribbon. I used two different ribbons for this card which is my second entry for this challenge.

Here's my card:

The time came to use the vintage sheet of patterned paper I was using as a backdrop for some of my photos. I cut out the heart on it to use it for my card. The digital image was colored with the Antique Linen and Spun Sugar distress inks. Sponged some ink on the white die-cut to soften down the bright white.

supplies used:
stamps: free rose image by Free Vintage Digi Stamps; Verve- heartfelt phrases
ink: Memento in Rich Cocoa; Tim Holtz in Antique Linen and Spun Sugar
card stock: Papertrey Ink in Kraft
patterned paper: Daisy D's love letters; music sheet paper from www.bestcardmaking-downloads.com; unknown rose-colored floral patterned paper from scrap pile
accessories: the fairy tag and the butterfly are elements from digital kits from the Far Far Hill blog. I added color to the butterfly with the Tim Holtz distress inks to give it a vintage look. Also used Glimmer Mist in dazzling diamonds and Rangers glossy accents on it. The ribbons were both translucent, but I sponged Tim Holtz Antique Linen to the striped one. Also used Dainty Dots Die-Namics by My Favorite Things and Gem Chic adhesive pearls.

Here's the card:

So, I decided it's time to watermark my photos. I went with a program called Visual Watermark which makes doing this an absolute breeze. What I'm trying to figure out is how to take off the trial version mark on the bottom right corner. I just purchased the key to the license, and now I tried ejecting the program. Maybe when I restart it, it will not have that on my photo.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

Hi all!

This is my card for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #159, FTT159. There was a photo for inspiration and we were supposed to use at least three colors from it. I grabbed as many as I could- I matched the greens to Copic colors YG11 and YG45 and used those for my leaves and grass, the brown on the hemp to E71 and combined that with E70 and E74 for the bunnies, the brown on the metal keys I matched to E27 and used that on the tree branches, matched the orange rose petals to Y38 and the cage to Y15 and used those colors on the flowers, and R22 to the peachy color on the double tone petals and used that on my bunny ears.
So that's a total of 7 colors I grabbed from the photo.

Here's my card:

This card is for a card request. I jotted down the address and the name of the recipient, but I don't even remember where I read the request from! It's for a lady named Karen Saalfield and I know she was going through rough times and could use a card to cheer her up, but that's all I remember. I really should jot down that along with the address next time :S

The card looked so white that I added some faux stitching and a frame around the stamped sentiment on the middle.

And guess who forgot to mask the inside of the card before coloring the outside? So I had to add another panel of white card stock on the inside to cover the ink that had bled. I know this wouldn't have happened if I had used a scrap or the thicker Neenah card stock, but lesson learned.

supplies used:
stamps: Flourishes- Spring Has Sprung
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: 0, E27, E70, E71, E74, R22, Y15, Y38, YG11, YG45, multiliner 0.03 and 0.8
card stock: Georgia Pacific white

One Sweet Challenge; Creative Inspirations;

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

One Sweet Challenge had us doing monochromatic projects for their March challenge.

Creative Inspirations challenge #153 was to use only the colors green and white (plus hair and skin tones).

Crafty Creations challenge #160  was to use stripes. I made my background using my scor-pal. I scored several lines on a piece of white card stock, and then went over them with Memento in Bamboo Leaves and and then sponged in Tim Holtz distress ink in Shabby Shutters. I was trying to go for stripes but it ended up looking like wood, lol. Still, the embossed stripes are there so I hope they count.

Do You Stack Up DYSU #62 had a "go green theme". We could have recycled stuff or just used the color green. I went with the green :)

Pixie Dust Studio challenge #117 had a "show us your Irish". We could interpret this however we wanted. I chose to use the color green as my interpretation.

Here's my card:

I sprayed the main image panel with Glimmer Mist. Also added a green rub-on flower to her hair and a rhinestone on the center of it.

supplies used:
stamps: Papertrey Ink- Mega Mixed Messages; ching-chou kuik- purple comfort

iCopic; Pixie Cottage; Shopping our Stash Weekly; TGFSC6

Hi all! I am entering my card into the following challenges:

iCopic challenge #72 was to color red hair. I am loving this color for hair, although I think I'm best at coloring black. I'll try to practice more on different stamps. The Copic colors I used were E07, E09, E19.

The Pixie Cottage challenge #111 was to either use the sketch or incorporate the theme of things with wings or do both. I added a butterfly image from my stash which I colored, cut out (left out the wings- oops!) and then adhered and covered with Rangers glossy accents.

Shopping our Stash Weekly challenge #42 was to either use any type of embossing or use a Meljens image. I embossed the white strips of paper with the spots & dots cuttlebug embossing folder.

I used the sketch from TGFSC6 and will be submitting the card over at SCS.

Totally Gorjuss; Pixie Dust Studio; PaperPlay Challenges; One Stop Craft; By The Cute and Girly

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Totally Gorjuss challenge #121 provided the sketch for my card.

Pixie Dust Studio challenge #116 was to use buttons.

PaperPlay challenged us to use something old and something new. Everything on the card is old and from my stash except for the Magnolia image, which I got from a Round Robin recently.

One Stop Craft challenge #172 was also to use buttons.

By the Cute and Girly had an "in the kitchen" theme. My main stamped image is a cute Tilda with cookies on a baking tray.

Here's my card:

So here's the deal. After I had cut out the image and embossed, I noticed I used the incorrect set of cutting mats. I have a set for embossing and one for cutting. As a result, my embossed cut-out had the cut lines on the cutting mats. I went along with it and just covered the colored image with Crackle Accents by Ranger.

supplies used:
stamps: an unknown Tilda by Magnolia; Papertrey Ink- Mega Mixed Messages
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: BG10, C00, C1, E0000, E40, E41, E42, E43, Y11, Y13, RV21, RV23, RV25, 0

Paper Sundaes; TGFFF22; Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays; PaperCrafting Journey; Simon Says Stamp; Divas by Design

Hi all!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Paper Sundaes challenge #110 was to either use green or make a card with a good luck theme.

The Greeting Farm TGFFF22 gave us a card for inspiration. I decided to use the focal oval as my inspiration. I followed the layout on the oval- the image on the left, the sentiment to the lower right, the adhesive embellishment that dots the "i" on the sentiment and the three adhesive embellies on the upper right curve on the oval.

Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays had us using our stash. I am so happy I finished up the last five rhinestones on a sheet I had lying on my desk.

PaperCrafting Journey challenge #4 had an anything goes. This is my second entry.

Simon Says also had an anything goes. This is my second entry.

Divas by Design challenge #24 is to use spots and/or stripes. This is my second entry.

Here's my card:

supplies used:
stamps: The Greeting Farm- Fleur Anya; Papertrey Ink- Mega Mixed Messages
ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black
Copic colors: 0, BG10, YR0000, YR00, YR16, YR18, R08, E08, E09, E19, E93, YG05, YG07

Raise the Bar; CAS-ual Fridays; Ribbon Carousel; Polka Doodles

Hi all!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Raise the bar challenge #94 challenged us to use twine. I grabbed that ball of coarse twine lying on my desk. I'm keeping it under close watch because my retriever, Sophi, has been looking for opportunities to steal it.

CAS-ual Fridays CFC42 wanted us to make a clean and simple creation with a baby theme. Look at the adorable Stampendous image I used. It's a cute little chick family!

Ribbon Carousel RCC42 had an anything goes. But remember we have to use something that comes from a spool on Ribbon Carousel challenges! The twine covers this.

Polka Doodles week 9 challenge was to use dots or stripes. I used the Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder on the main card stock layer of my card.

Here's my card:
